Their roasters stop before the second crack during the roast to preserve the beans’ delicate origin notes. That careful process comes through in their drinks.
One client we spoke with picked up a bag of their organic beans along with an iced latte and said the bright, citrusy finish paired perfectly with the rich dairy.
You can even pair your coffee with house-made scoops like matcha, hojicha, or Hong Kong milk tea.
Plus, they’re open seven days a week, making it easy to grab fresh beans when your pantry runs low.
However, they’re closed on statutory holidays, so you’ll need to plan ahead for long weekends.

Scratch-made waffle doughnuts cooked in a waffle iron give Prototype Coffee’s tasting room a comforting feel. That same care goes into their coffee, which is roasted to a medium-light profile to bring out natural sweetness, clean acidity, and bright fruit notes.
With 15 to 20 coffees available, you can choose from pour-overs or espresso shots. One client we spoke with tried an espresso flight and said comparing two contrasting African origins side by side was a real eye-opener.
The open space also gets plenty of natural light and has spacious tables, making it a comfortable alternative to standard cute cafes in Vancouver.
Unfortunately, the weekday lunch menu ends at 3:00 PM and isn’t available on weekends, so food options are more limited later in the day.
My favourite coffee shop in town
My favourite coffee shop in town, unfortunately it is somewhat hard to reach via transit. They have amazing pour over selection, really enjoyed the geisha I tried. They also sell a variety of different waffles. We got the lemon bergamot one, which was a pretty unique combo. Could be a bit crispier and we felt like the lemon could be stronger, but overall it was nice.

I love this place so much! The coffee the vibes and the people are all just so awesome. I always like to get the candied espresso, but the honey orange latte is also really good. They have made in-house waffles with a variety of different flavours to pair nicely with the variety of coffee that they have to offer. I love how all their beans are roasted right in the coffee shop, it’s pretty cool to see.

Super cute coffee shop
Super cute coffee shop. They are currently using Detour and Agro Roasters, some of the top choices. Beside incredible coffee they also do In house freshly baked goods, must try their chocolate croissants and almond croissants. They offer much more but I will have to come back and try them next time. Interior design is beautiful and modern, and I cannot wait for patio season, such a hidden gem. And 5 start to their incredible staff and customer service 👏🏼

Cute little cafe with fresh selection of sandwiches and baked goods. Bar seating for 2 plus 4 indoor tables for 2 and a patio with additional seating. Friendly staff & great service. I highly recommend
The best cookie I’ve ever had from a coffee shop! Kranky offers breakfast wraps and a small coffee menu. But their baked goods, i mean they aren’t your average! Here’s the white chocolate cranberry (?) ($3.45) and it tastes heavenly good. Hefty size with a large piece of chocolate. I highly recommend. They have friendly staff and service too. Looking forward to seeing the store open for sit-in 🙂
