VCV Computer Service is the number one computer repair service in Vancouver. No matter what brand or model your laptop is, their team has the knowledge to fix it.
They specialize in Computer desktops, laptops, and Mac repair. Aside from these, they are the only company that also offers other services such as virus removal, virus prevention, system rebuild, and so much more.
Their previous clients left some positive reviews on Yelp.
A happy client said that James, the owner, was their hero. They called him for a 17 inch Samsung laptop repair and was shocked that James told them that he would be able to fix it when the other shop said that they could not because they do not have the right items to fix the smashed screen since Samsung does not make 17 inches laptops anymore.
Another client mentioned that they appreciated James’s pieces of advice to them on how to keep their laptops running even though it was already a little old. They also loved that he went the extra mile to upgrade their system a bit in order for it to not lag that much.
Pros
- Free diagnosis
- Wide range of services
- Accepts debit cards
- Over 20 years of IT experience
Cons
- Services can be improved
Customer Reviews
Here are some reviews from their previous clients:
“I needed a laptop repair on a Saturday. After driving to 2 google searches that were no longer in business, and getting one 3 week wait estimate, I called VCV. Dropped it off Saturday afternoon, picked up Monday night (they even stayed past closing so I had time to drive over). Fair price paid, and they repaired little things that also needed to be looked at. I definitely recommend.”
“I brought in a laptop and an external monitor to James. Was getting an error message whenever I tried to watch Netflix. Not only did James tell me what the error message was, he fixed the problem. Very helpful person and great prices. Thank you for staying open in these troubled times!”
2. The Hackery
SERVICES | Custom Computer Services, Hardware and Software services, E-waste pick up, Laptop services |
WEBSITE | https://thehackery.ca/ |
ADDRESS | 304 Victoria Drive Vancouver, BC V5L 4C7 |
CONTACT DETAILS | (778) 373-8295 sales@thehackery.ca |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday, Thursday, Sunday – Closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday – 11 am to 6 pm |
The Hackery is a household name in the computer repair scene in Vancouver. Having been around for more than a decade, there’s no way they can’t fix any computer-related issue.
Apart from being a repair shop, The Hackery also runs an e-waste junkyard, which is one of their sources for the spare parts used in their repairs.
That said, customers still have a choice if they would like brand new parts installed rather than recycled e-waste.
The services offered here can range from the most basic to the most complex of issues like RAM upgrades, LCD repairs, Data Recovery, Virus and Malware related issues.
What The Hackery gives its customers is peace of mind knowing that their device is in the hands of 10 years worth of experience.
They also offer fast diagnostics (usually within a day), cheaper repair options (e-waste), and accessibility (2 branches within Vancouver).
What else can a not-so-tech-savvy person look for in a repair shop? Oh, and did we forget to mention that they can do free pick-ups for your e-waste?
The only downside for this well-equipped and environmentally responsible company is their short and rather staggered work week.
So, you will have to plan out when you’re gonna bring in your dying device if you have deadlines waiting to be finished.
Pros
- Fast troubleshooting (within a day)
- Has 2 branches
- Cheap repair options, thanks to their e-waste surplus
Cons
- Only open for 4 days a week
Customer Reviews
Their extensive archive, thanks to their e-waste junkyard, proves that The Hackery is capable of repairing even the oldest of devices. Check out this customer review for reference:
I love this place, the staff is super friendly and prices for repairs are very reasonable. They even fix vintage ( ie, more than 5 years old) Macs!
This place is a great incentive to fix your old machine rather than having to shell out the big bucks for the current model. As well, it’s better for the environment to fix, recycle, reuse or repurpose your old electronic items.
Originally, I had gone to the store named after fruit and the condescending genius told me they wouldn’t even open my computer because it was too old. The woman told me to open it myself and jiggle the battery around. I told her I did not feel confident to do that myself. She kind of sighed and rolled her eyes and told me I could go to an authorized repair place, and see if they would look at it, even though it was so old. I asked for a suggested place and she told me I could go to a place on Broadway I’ll name here as Stupid Computing.
Long story short they charged me a boatload of money trying to convince me I needed expensive new parts, which I knew I didn’t. I was pretty sure the battery may need replacing. After all the money I spent, the computer still didn’t work and when I called they said they would have to charge me another diagnostic fee! I gave up.
Until recently it gathered dust but I had a newer machine that needed some repair and not only did The Hackery fix it, but they installed a new battery in for older model for free! And not once did they roll their eyes at me.
I will always come here first in the future to get my stuff fixed. My friends will go there too because I keep raving to them how great this place is. Highly recommend The Hackery! – Strawberry L.
3. Burrad Laptop Inc.
SERVICES | Laptop Repairs, Hardware and software repairs, Custom Computer Services |
WEBSITE | http://burrardlaptops.com |
ADDRESS | 1804 W Broadway Vancouver, BC V6J 1Y9 |
CONTACT DETAILS | (604) 736-2212 |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Friday 10 am to 6 pm Saturday 10 am to 5 pm Sunday – Closed |
As the name suggests, Burrad Laptops Inc. does specialize in repairing laptops, but they can also do some repairs on desktops.
The company was established in 2012 and has serviced a wide range of laptop brands, from your usual names like Dell and Apple to your more foreign brands like Toshiba and Sony.
Their repair services range from your typical hardware issues like loose hinges, and cracked LCDs, to software-related issues like malware, and system failure.
They can do a lot of upgrades on your computer, but one upgrade that they badly need is a new store. It may look dingy, but their service isn’t going to disappoint you in any way.
Diagnostics and quotations are free and are given on the same day, while repairs can take up to 2-3 days. With their laptop repair experience, Burrad Laptops is your go-to shop for all things related to your lappie.
But there’s the hitch: that’s just it, as they’re more geared towards laptop repairs and after-sales. So, if your home PC or complex gaming rig decides to conk out, Burrad wouldn’t be the first place you would want to hit up.
Pros
- Same day diagnostics and quotations
- Can service a variety of laptop brands
- Open 5 days a week
Cons
- Geared more towards laptop repairs
- Repairs will take 2-3 days
Customer Reviews
Another pro for Burrad Laptops is their friendly staff. Here’s what this customer has to say about their great experience with their staff:
My laptop screen had loose hinges so I called ahead to get a quote. They told me $50. Then I called The Hackery since it was the other most recommended place. They quote me $90 (minimum). So it was off to Burrard I go.
I get there, and the nice lady at the front tells me to give her 15 minutes while she takes my laptop to the back. I’m thinking they need to inspect the parts to give a more accurate quote since my laptop isn’t very common.
10 minutes later, she comes out and hands me my laptop with the hinges tightened.
I ask her, “how much?”
“Don’t worry about it,” she says.
So now I am writing this review to let everyone know how awesome they are. – Lee Y
4. Fixmac
SERVICES | IT Services, Hardware and software Apple devices (iMac and MacBook) Repairs |
WEBSITE | http://fixmac.ca/ |
ADDRESS | 6965 Victoria drive Vancouver, BC V5P 3Y7 |
CONTACT DETAILS | (604) 439-9100 fixmac.ca@gmail.com |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Saturday 10am to 6:30pm Sunday – Closed |
Don’t worry Apple fans, we didn’t forget about you. As most Apple users know, having to send your Macbook or iMac to the Apple store for repairs will cost you almost as much as buying a new device.
Fixmac can repair your Apple device for a fraction of your Apple Store quotation, from the most common issues like flex cables, cracked LCDs, to the more complex issues like OS and battery-related issues.
The store is equipped with machinery that Apple manufacturers use, which is why they’re able to bring down the repair cost minus the Apple branding. They’re not Apple-certified, but honestly, who cares when the service is this good and the prices are this reasonable?
This is besides the fact that they do offer free diagnostics, fast repairs, and free shipping for customers who are not within their vicinity. Now, can the Apple store offer you that?
Now, with all that great machinery, and accessibility being offered, the trade-off is actually their strong suit – they only service Apple products.
Pros
- Apple-specific repairs
- Fast diagnostics
- Fast repairs
- Offer cheaper than the Apple store
- Free shipping for customers outside Vancouver
- Open 5 days a week
Cons
- Can only repair Apple products
- Is not Apple-certified
Customer Reviews
AppleCare terms can get a bit tricky to understand, and sometimes the most common repair dilemmas aren’t covered by them at all. Check out what this customer has to say about the price difference between Apple and FixMac:
Spilled a bit of water onto my 2 year old 13″ MacBook Pro and knew right away that Apple wouldn’t honour my AppleCare coverage even if it was an accident. Searched around and found Fixmac. Read the reviews and decided to take my laptop to Jack.
Couldn’t be happier. All the reviews are true Jack and his partner provide an excellent service and the cost and turn around times are amazing. Replace the ProLogic board in 4 business days, cost was exactly what Jack had quoted ($450 + tax) and I got a 90 day warranty on the repaired parts.
Don’t judge the service by the building, it is a little run down but the service is top of the line. If you need work done on any Mac product I would highly recommend checking out Fixmac before even considering any where else. Jack does a free estimate, rare in this day and age, and within 10 minutes I had my answer – yes it can be fixed, it will cost around $450 and should only take a few days. Couldn’t ask for much more.
Upon getting the laptop home I noticed a small item that had been overlooked by both me and Fixmac. One of the keys at the top of the keyboard was a little kinked. It was so minor that I didn’t even notice it until I decided to do a keypress check when I got the laptop home. Key wouldn’t move. Called Jack and asked him about it. He said bring it back we’ll have a look. Took it out and within 15 minutes the key was replaced and the laptop was back in top form. No charge and service with a smile. Hard to ask for anything more.
Hopefully I won’t be looking for computer repair in the near future but if I am I will be taking it to Jack and his partner without hesitation. – Gordon D.
5. Frontier PC
SERVICES | IT Services, Hardware and Software repairs, Lenovo Laptop warranty service |
WEBSITE | https://www.frontierpc.com/ |
ADDRESS | 1755 W Broadway Suite 105 Vancouver, BC V6J 4S5 |
CONTACT DETAILS | (604) 739-8060 webteam@frontierpc.com |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 6 pm Saturday – Sunday Closed |
Frontier PC is almost the same as our first two choices—offers same-day diagnostics and has an extensive list of brands that they are capable of working with. What made them enter our list of the best computer repair in Vancouver is their IT Care.
Yes, you read that right: IT CARE. Frontier PC offers IT Care plans for their customers—besides the usual in and out repairs, they do offer two plans depending on your needs.
All this talk of IT Care might not be within the understanding of Home PC users, so you might get a bit lost with all the possible jargon. This makes Frontier PC a better choice for the more tech-savvy.
Though, if you’re running a small or large-scale business that needs IT support, Frontier PC would be your best choice as their plans also cover hardware issues. They also have a warranty service for Lenovo laptops, by the way.
Pros
- Offers hardware and software repair
- Offers IT plans services
Cons
- IT plans aren’t for everyone
- Only offers warranty service for Lenovo laptops specifically
Customer Reviews
This customer review proves that despite the higher price tag, Frontier’s service is one of the top computer repairs in Vancouver:
These guys have been super helpful both times I’ve come in. I brought my laptop in once when the screen died. I had been traveling and my warranty had just expired. They managed to fix it and get it covered under warranty and I barely paid anything (if I paid at all…I forget) for the service.
I brought another laptop in when it refused to turn on. They actually told me not to bother spending the money to get it checked out and repaired as they could tell from my story that the motherboard had died (might as well buy a new laptop). They then offered to transfer the files to whatever new computer I buy, but also informed me I could do it myself with gear I could buy for much cheaper.
TL;dr. they provide good service and although it may be expensive, they tell you what your options are and don’t oversell. Thanks guys! – Helen B.
6. Geeks on the Go
SERVICES | IT services, Cloud Services, Hardware and Software Services, Gaming Console repairs, Laptop Repairs. |
WEBSITE | https://www.geeksonthego.ca/ |
ADDRESS | 653 26Th Crescent, North Vancouver, BC V7N 4J7 |
CONTACT DETAILS | (778) 382-8511 info@geeksonthego.ca |
OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Friday 7 am to 10 pm Saturday – Sunday 9 am to 9 pm |
This company is centered on servicing home computer users, putting emphasis on the lack of support for these kinds of computer users.
Although home devices are their niche, they also do repairs for gaming consoles, cloud services, IT services, and your standard hardware and software issues.
We like that Geeks on the Go makes repairs more palatable and “dumbed down” for their customers to understand the ins and outs of their devices.
As we’ve mentioned, this company is great for home users who need help with either tinkering with their devices or having them repaired.
But, despite what their branding says and implies, if you own a complex gaming rig or a high-speed processing PC, Geeks on the Go wouldn’t be where you’d go. They’re more geared towards serving the average consumer, not enthusiasts.
Still, they’re a good option for most – and while they do also claim that they are “hardware specialists”, they’re still capable of working with most operating systems in the market. Something you might need to take note of.
Pros
- Friendly services for the not so tech-savvy
- Open everyday
- Early work and late work hours (7 am to 10 pm on weekdays, 9 am-9 pm on weekends)
- Onsite pick-up/drop-off
Cons
- May not be applicable to repairs for enthusiast rigs
- Hardware specialists
Customer Reviews
Their home PC user-centric approach is manifested by their honest and patient services. Read up on what this customer has to say with their experience:
Alex is amazing! After years of going from one IT person to another as most do not explain what they are doing plus they were not responsive. It ended up being extremely confusing and not to mention costly.
I went online one day back in 2014 and found Geeks on the Go. I contacted Alex and he got back to me very quickly. I told him what I was looking for and he said he is able to help. Alex showed up on time, helped move my entire system from one location to another. I noticed how meticulously he was and all my electrical cords were bundled up properly. Yes, he is super organized.
Once we are at the new location, he helped me set up my computer and printer exactly the way it was. When I have a question, he took the time to explain it while he worked. He is also very patient and explains in easy to understand manner especially for someone now in the tech world.
About 4 years ago, I needed a new computer. I called Alex for recommendations and he even found a shop with the best price. I just went to pick it up and he met up to install it for me.
Just yesterday, I have another new computer that needed some data transfer and printer drivers installation. Again, Alex saved the day!
I highly recommend Alex. He offer support remotely as well so for those who needs technical support right away it can happen pretty quickl Fair price – Sara A

How to Choose a Computer Repair Shop
Choosing the computer repair shop can get a bit confusing, especially if you’re not that tech-savvy, so it would be best for you to read up on these helpful tips on choosing the repair shop that fits your needs.
1. Check the Services They Offer
If you happen to already know the possible issue of your device, it would be a good move to check if the shop does offer that kind of repair service. That way, you’ll know if they can do the job.
2. Consider Their Track Record
With choosing any kind of service, knowing their track record would speak for their quality of service. Ask them what their success rate is for the repair you want or for similar cases, just so you have an idea of whether or not they can deliver.
3. Find Out Their Expertise
Expertise is not just on the specific component that has an issue, or the kind of device, but as well as the brand. Knowing if the company specializes in your device specifically would mean better outcomes for your device in need of a repair.
