Best Window Replacement Services in Vancouver
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

To the not-so-handyman, a broken window can seem like an algebra equation that you can’t solve. But lucky for you, we have a list of the best window replacement services in Vancouver in today’s article!

Here, we’ll talk about those services and why we think they stand out among the rest. Before we get to them, though, we’ll go over what window replacements often cost in the area.

How Much Window Replacements Cost in Vancouver

When getting your window replaced, you need to account for two things: the window and the window frame. These have separate costs, but it is possible for only your window to be replaced while maintaining the frame.

Let’s say you’re only getting windows replaced. The average window replacement goes from $800 – $1200 dollars per window, so multiply that by the number of windows you’re getting replaced.

Now what if you also need to replace the frames? In that case, you may end up looking at a price increase of 100%.

But of course, these are just estimates. Check out the table below for the costing of the most common window and window frame choices:

WINDOW TYPECOST (PER WINDOW)WINDOW FRAME MATERIALCOST (PER WINDOW)
Single-hung Windows$230 – $460Aluminum & Metal$500 – $1500
Double-hung Windows$395 – $1000Fiberglass$1300 – $2000
Sliding Windows$430 – $1500Composite$265 – $1100
Casement Windows$360 – $980Vinyl$660 – $1400
  Wood$1000 – $1800

At any rate, now you’ve seen the possible costs for your window replacements. Below, let’s check out the best window replacement services in Vancouver.

As the name would suggest, Long Life Windows & Doors has also been on the scene for quite some time. The company is family-owned and boasts a family-centric approach.

They understand that not all families are well-versed in window replacement jargon, which is why you can find a lot of write-ups on the different kinds of windows they offer to help you choose.

They go as far as explaining the materials in an easy-to-understand way, not using big-name certifications, but rather showing you the benefits you can get from their windows.

They also carry a lot of window options. The company is best known for its VinylTek Windows that are locally manufactured and designed to withstand the Vancouver winds.

They offer a vast range of customization options for your window choices too, from color to material and grid patterns.

They even offer free and contactless consultation, to put your mind at ease before you start churning the numbers for your replacements.

After all, they do claim in their marketing to not just install windows and doors but – yes, you guessed it – peace of mind. We guess that’s where the “as long as you own the home” warranty comes in!

If you’re up for a company that is focused on offering you assuringly sturdy and easy-to-understand choices, Long Life Windows and Doors would be a good choice.

However, if you want to visit them, don’t forget to book an appointment. Their showroom is only by appointment and no walk-ins will be entertained.

Pros

  • Homeowner warranty for as long as you own the house
  • Can arrange evening or possible weekend consultations
  • Their Vinyltek vinyl windows meet or exceed the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) A440 standards

Cons

  • Does not accept walk-ins in their showroom

Customer Reviews

Here is a review from one of their satisfied customers:

“So I had 6 quotes about two years ago for our home to replace all our windows. Long Life being one of them. To make a long story short it was THE BEST decision we ever made. They weren’t the cheapest but they were the best for sure hands down! The owner came to measure almost immediately, listened to all concerns due to previous issues from vendors and assured me he would put his best and most experienced team on our home to do the project and he did. They did a beautiful job and everyone in the neighbourhood was knocking on our door wanting their number. Since then I had a tiny warranty issue on one window and made a simple call, the owner simply said ” no problem”, an email was sent and wheels were in motion and two men came yesterday and 10 minutes and I mean 10 min literally! it was replaced. They were so professional, courteous, and amazing! Truly, don’t look anywhere else, these guys are amazing and have the reputation for a reason. Also their administration staff in Burnaby is amazing when I went to have my screens fixed. Thank you to the entire staff. I have already handed out a bunch more of your business cards you gave me. THE BEST WINDOW COMPANY!!!!!!”

Customer Reviews

Here are reviews from their satisfied customers:

“I had very good experience to work with Silverline workers. Each of them showed their own enthusiasm at work. This is my first time ever satisfied with a contractor service. I love the way Chris and Keto( not sure I spell his name right) they both are an amazing to work with, they listen to every of your questions and follow my requirements in details and  also with a positive attitudes always. My pleasure to work with them both for couple days. They also do a very good job, pay close attention to details. After all, our windows seem good quality, beautiful with  a reasonable price. And I also got many compliments on our new installation. I’m 100% recommended Silverline to my neighbours, friends and everyone who is looking for new windows or door.”

“Silverline was at our house for two weeks last month (June 2023) to replace our windows and vinyl siding.  We are glad we chose them to do this upgrade and would definitely recommend them.  Marc prepared the quote for us and then left us to decide.  No pressure, which was great as some of the other companies that gave us quotes used high-pressure sales tactics.

The work crew were also great.  Chris was the windows Foreman and did an amazing job installing and framing our windows together with Rahim and Kiddo. They also removed most of the old vinyl siding.  Laddi was the vinyl siding Foreman and he had a really great crew working with him.  A huge shout-out to Sat, Vikram and Amarjit.  Without all you guys our house would not look as great as it does now.  Thank you all very much for a job well done.  Paul and Rosemary from Vancouver.”

Not to be confused with MTV’s Pimp My Ride, West Coast Windows has been in the market of Window and Door Installation/Replacement for over 45 years.

Now you’d think that a company this old would be pretty old-school when it comes to their approach and the services that they offer, well, think again.

The company offers everything from classic window designs such as casement and awning windows to more sleek and modern designs like tilt and turn windows.

They also focus their designs on the unique climate of British Columbia. As far as we’re concerned, that’s a mark of great designers and architects: tailoring design to the circumstances in which it’s to be used.

Still, with 45 years under their belt, you would think that they would have more than 4 window collections available to choose from on their website. We’d honestly like a little more variety than that.

Nevertheless, West Coast Windows offers a free quotation and does service in the Metro Vancouver Area, Fraser Valley, Whistler, and Sunshine Coast, to name a few.

Their products have also surpassed the standards set by the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) as well as being ENERGY STAR® certified. Did we also mention that they offer a lifetime warranty?

So overall, we’re positive about this particular window replacement company. You can probably see why!

Pros

  • 45 years of experience
  • Has multiple locations
  • Products are designed around BC’s unique climate

Cons

  • Only open during weekdays
  • Has only 4 collections available on their website

Customer Reviews

The company stays true to its mission of producing superior quality products while also recognizing the efforts of everyone involved in the process, say customers.

Check out what this client has to say about their experience with West Coast Windows:

“The sale process began with Will’s estimate. He was easygoing and made the effort to see the project from our point of view. Later, we asked for additional information about products and process from Brock, Theresa and Tracy from the Delta office/showroom at various times. Their insights brought clarity about product options and made trade information that could be confusing understandable. Each person we dealt with was patient and and engaged in resolving our concerns as they arose. When we needed to finalize window trim design Will made a special home visit to help us choose the design that worked best for our project. He also set up a special Master Key lock system with Broadway Locksmiths. It was a extra work for him, but he made it work. We worried about the installation of 37 doors and windows. Tracy coordinating in the office and Mike who was in charge of installations made sure our lives were not upended.  The crew was great, friendly and careful, and Mike’s communication with us was prompt and clear. Not only are we happy with their windows and doors but with their professionalism. Work was completed on schedule and within budget. Our highest praise comes for the company’s attitude toward follow up and special requests. A special shout out to Jay and Tracy regarding post project customer relations. They gave the same attention to these aspects of out project even after the crew had completed their work. West Coast Windows team and products have improved the quality of our daily lives and we are pleased to give them our strongest recommendation. – Tom Atkinson”

Another old-timer in the WIndow industry, Centra windows has been in the business for over 30 years. The company’s success is attributed to 5 factors:

  1. Customer satisfaction
  2. Employee performance
  3. 30+ years of experience
  4. Specialized installation
  5. Lifetime warranty

In the span of 30 years, it looks like this company has come to understand what consumers need when they’re looking for top window replacements and are able to offer the best to them. At least, this is what customer testimonials indicate.

The company aims to create a community via its products and services as well. They also speak a lot about how integral family is in their everyday work.

They include their clients in the process too by creating content on how homeowners can take care of and maintain their windows and doors.

Moreover, they offer financing programs to help make urgent window replacements more accessible.

So what’s the hitch? Well, the issues are pretty limited from what we can see.

For instance, Centra puts a lot of emphasis on their branding, company philosophy, and customer experience, but not much on their online catalogue. It can make choosing windows from them a bit of a pain unless you visit them in person.

In their catalogue, you will also see a lot of rather old-school windows. There aren’t many of your modern options right now.

Again, these are minor gripes – they’re still great at window replacement.  If you’re in the market for more homey and classic-looking windows, Centra might well be your best bet.

Pros

  • 30 years of experience
  • Offers financing programs
  • 4 locations (Langley, Kelowna, Nanaimo, and Victoria)

Cons

  • Lack of substantial visuals on their website
  • Limited modern-looking choices

Customer Reviews

Employees’ contributions are held in high regard in Centra, and it reflects in their quality of work. Read up on how this client of theirs saw this during their window installation:

Centra Windows recently replaced all 18 windows and a patio door in our home. Their customer service, expertise, quality of work and product met and exceeded our expectations. We scheduled three quotes from different companies but Brad, our sales rep, made such a positive impression that we chose to go with Centra prior to receiving our final quote. The very friendly installation crew, Kyle and Glen (leads), and Kurt and Joe, (with Jayme and Trystan each coming in on one day) were respectful and considerate of our time, our home and our pets. Pride in their work showed in their meticulous attention to detail and their exceptional customer service. Our installation was scheduled for 4 days, but the crew worked an extra day and half to ensure the job was done right. When a scratch was noted on one of the window levers during the final inspection, Kyle made an extra trip to our home to replace the lever with a new part. When one of our double casement windows could not open to our desired 90 degrees due to the size of the window, Darren and Ryan (technical crew) came out to analyze and then custom-modify the window to what we wanted. Timely, courteous communication, by email, phone and in person, kept us updated throughout the process. We love our new windows, especially the double casement ones, which bring the outdoors in. A positive experience from start to finish. A big Thank You Centra Windows!”  – Melanie M.

Weekends – By appointment

Bridgetown just like the rest has been in the game for quite a long time, 40 years to be exact. So, you already know that their service comes with experience.

The company claims to be composed of “window and door replacement specialists”, as that’s essentially what they do – replace windows and doors.

They currently don’t manufacture their own products, though. That’s not an issue as far as we’re concerned, as they still use the most trusted window brands like Marvin and Milgard Windows and Doors.

The main and only service of Bridgetown is their highly skilled, licensed, bonded, and insured craftsmen. That’s how you know that these guys are experts in window replacement.

They also offer virtual consultations, which is a really nice feature. It can help put you at ease before having their team come into your house and replace your windows, as you’ll have a better sense of what to expect.

Now, if you want a company that is found in Vancouver, Bridgetown might not be the choice as they are stationed a bridge away in Oregon, Portland. But they do serve a lot of clients in Vancouver, so they still made this list.

Additionally, their strong suit – their craftsmen – is also their weak spot. They only offer installation services but do not manufacture their own products, which can make holding them accountable for product quality difficult.

What’s more, if you want some customization, your options may be relatively limited compared to what you can get from the shops that make their own windows. You might have to rely on the catalog of the windows that they do carry.

But if you’re familiar with these brands and are looking for a no-nonsense, no-frills kind of company that will just replace windows, then Bridgetown would be a good choice for you.

Pros

  • Virtual consultation
  • Carries reputable window brands

Cons

  • Doesn’t manufacture their own products
  • Located in Portland

Customer Reviews

Their craftsmen are what Bridgetown is known for, say customers. Check out what this client has to say about their experience with Bridgetown:

“I was completely blown away by the Bridgetown experience.  After going through a hellish renovation earlier this year, it was just so wonderful to have a team of workers come in, get the job done, leave my home immaculate, and have wonderful new windows! I got many bids, and Bridgetown was the least expensive, but I actually didn’t go with them because of that – I went with them because it was just so easy. There was no upsell, no long pitch about the different kinds of windows and how magical they were – it was just easy. They also had an opening come up so installed the windows 2 weeks earlier than expected. I had seven windows installed, and they sent a large team so it was done within six hours.  It was just a wonderful experience, and I look forward to working with them again when I can afford to get my remaining windows done!” – Kat V.

OPERATING HOURSShowroom: Mon – Fri 9:00am – 5:30pm

A bit younger than the prior company, yet A1 Windows has a lot of experience under their belt, not to mention their affiliations in consumer, trade, and industry associations.

The company is locally owned, hence their approach to crafting windows that work best with their area’s climate.

They also have many staff members who are able to speak a plethora of languages, a great choice for our international readers who are now nestled in the Vancouver area.

Some of the associations that they are part of are the following for consumers – Better Business Bureau; for trade – British Columbia Building Envelope Council; and for industry – their products are ENERGY STAR® certified as well. This is highly reflective of their company’s pursuit of excellence in the window industry.

We do have a minor qualm with them, though. As much as their website boasts about their brand identity and approach to window crafting, we think they could work a bit more on the visuals of their products.

But like we said, that’s a minor qualm. Their products are still amazing from a manufacturing and performance perspective.

You will have to visit them in-store to see their top-grade products that have surpassed standardization tests for windows. But don’t forget to book your viewings in advance, as they are currently not accepting walk-ins in their showroom.

A1 Windows also offers free estimates for window replacements, by the way. What’s more, note that they have experience in residential and commercial establishments.

Pros

  • 30 years of experience
  • Diverse staff, able to cater to non-English or French speakers
  • Experience beyond residential projects (mid to high rise projects)
  • Weekends and holidays appointments can be available upon request
  • Winner of best of Homestars awards
  • A+ Ratings on BBB
  • In business for more than 30 years

Cons

  • Their physical location can be a bit far depending on where you’re from

Customer Reviews

Common Window Problems

As we’ve read, windows are actually complicated things. There’s a lot to consider when replacing them.

But before you jump the gun and shell out money for new windows, let’s check out the common window problems and what exactly you need to have them fixed.

It wouldn’t hurt to know a bit more before the contractors come in with all this jargon you might not know.

Leaky Windows

If you start feeling a draft near your window, it might be due for a replacement – but that’s not always the case!

Leaky windows can be repaired by replacing their weather stripping – specialized rubber that helps keep the elements from entering your home.

But of course, if the elements are already getting in your house, a replacement would be what you need right now.

Condensation

Drawing a smiley face and other stuff on windows full of condensation may be fun, but to some, it may seem like faulty insulation.

This isn’t the case, as condensation is caused by humid air and isn’t related to your window’s insulation. So you don’t need to call up any of the 5 companies we listed above for you.

But don’t worry, if you see it on your windows, all you have to do is tinker with your thermostat and not the catalogue of window replacement services.

Inefficient Energy Saving

Most windows have ENERGY STAR® ratings, and if yours isn’t keeping up with it, a replacement isn’t always the immediate solution.

Some window models can be repaired by – you guessed it – replacing their weather stripping. This works by retaining your indoor temp while sealing your home off from the outdoor temp.

But if you still see a hike in your electric or gas bill, now would be the time to call a trusted contractor.

FAQs About Window Replacement

And that’s a wrap on our list of the best window replacement services in Vancouver. Now would be the best time to check on that little draft in one of your rooms, or if your electric bill has been fluctuating lately.

Make the right choice that fits your home’s needs. We hope we’ve opened your minds to the different choices available.

Now if you’re also looking into having your garage door repaired, check out our list for the best garage door repair services in Vancouver! We included estimated prices and the pros and cons for all of them!
