How to Get to Wreck Beach

By car: From Martha Piper Plaza, head west on University Boulevard. Take a right onto NW Marine Drive. Look for the trail on your left in the open area with outhouses. Follow that trail down the stairs to Wreck Beach.

By public transit: hop on the SB Granville Street and get off at UBC Exchange Bay 11. From that bus stop, Wreck Beach would be an 18-minute walk.

The Carey Centre over at UBC hooks you up with some seriously sweet scenery. You’ve got water all around, with killer vistas of those majestic snow-capped mountains and the lush UBC gardens and museums.

Inside though, it’s pretty no-frills, and they don’t have air conditioning. The upside is the place is serene as heck. Perfect if you’re into that peaceful vibe. And bonus, there are some awesome walking trails nearby that lead you straight to the beaches.

Only U Cafe is all about serving up those classic comfort foods from around the globe—French toast, breakfast burritos, bagels, bacon and eggs, you name it. Perfect spot for a chill brunch.

We decided to mix it up and tried a few things—smoked salmon benny, Mexican benny, and the sausage frittata. The Mexican benny was a bit different, using salsa instead of hollandaise, but man, it totally works!

Koerner’s Pub is the go-to hangout spot at UBC. They serve burgers, tacos, nachos, and craft beer. And when the sun’s out, you gotta hit up their garden patio for some al fresco dining vibes.
