“Excellent French bistro in downtown Vancouver. The food was oh so delicious. Every course was beautifully plated with bold flavors. Good portions too. Paul was a wonderful server, very attentive with great recommendations. He knew the menu well and could easily accommodate my gluten free requests. Many items on the menu are either gluten free as is or can be slightly modified. They even brought out GF bread with the escargot for me (and left off the breadcrumbs, of course). Ask any local and they’ll tell you that The Templeton is an old-school diner that made a name for itself by providing excellent customer service alongside memorable dishes.
In fact, the diner earned the title “Best Old School Diner” in 2010 from WE Readers Choice Best of the City.
Of course, we didn’t visit The Templeton just for the vibes. We also sampled some of their dishes.
Their menu is extensive, so it was overwhelming to browse through. After a bit, we came up with the BBB Burger, Southern Fried Chicken Burger, and the Vegan Burger.
The BBB Burger was served with a housemade Canadian beef patty topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, and various vegetables on a brioche bun. It was cooked to order, so the burger was still warm when it arrived, and the taste was truly memorable.
If you’re looking for a chicken alternative, the Southern Fried Chicken Burger is a must-try. The chicken patty is housemade and comes with aged white cheddar, honey mustard, veggies, and a brioche bun. Truly worth the visit!

“This spot is Awesome!!! It’s a cute small cafe with home style cooking. It has the cutest decor and the staff is amazing. We tried other breakfast spots in this area and they don’t compare. The menu showcases various vegan burgers with different toppings. Tera V Burger’s Deluxe No Bull Burger wowed us with the combination of honey mustard, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and swiss cheese.
So did the Smokey BBQ Crispy Chick’UN Burger, which comes with fresh lettuce, sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, and vegan cheese. Do note that the burgers come with regular cheese, but you can replace them with vegan options.
